Italian Neoclassical Walnut and Exotic Woods Commode
late 18th century, the banded rectangular top centered by an urn-inlaid panel surrounded by panels of various birds perched atop foliate scrolling patterns, above a conforming case fitted with three long drawers, all inlaid with like scrolling and avian patterns, the sides en suite, raised on bracket feet.

Condition Report: In very good polished and restored condition. The case is very solid with absolutely no movement observed in its joints. The piece exhibits mars and wear throughout, including some shrinkage cracks, scattered inlay and veneer repairs accomplished using both wood and filler, and other normal indications of age and use. There is a loss to the stringing on the top of one pilaster, about 1-1/2" long, and some minor scattered losses, but no significant or notable inlay losses. The drawers slide freely. Locks are present; no key. Drawer pulls are replaced and one is loose.
