Condition Report:
Relined. Fine craquelure and light surface dirt throughout, with some associated patches of cupping. One or two very small areas of loss, one noticeable to the nose. A layer of thick varnish causing some possible discoloration. A horizontal line running the width of the canvas, 1/3 down from the top edge, possible retouching and repair. Another patch of possible repair and visible retouching to the sitter's right eye. Scattered retouching throughout, visible in natural light especially to the left shoulder. One or two white blemishes scattered throughout. Inspection under UV reveals scattered retouching and a green cloudy varnish which may be distorting the extent of retouching.
