Penitent Magdalene refers to a post-biblical period in the life of Mary Magdalene, according to medieval legend, and a large number of artworks have been composed featuring this subject matter including works by Titian and Caravaggio.

Condition: Craquelure surface, scattered inpainting, repair patch to canvas verso, minor paint losses to lower edge concealed by frame. Fissures and losses to frame.
