Italian School (19th century)Floral swags, a pairOil on canvas 56 x 109.5cm (22 x 43 in.) (2)Condition Report: Blue flower (lower right): The canvas has been lined. Surface dirt throughout. There is a small area of loss (approx 5mm) to the lower centre of the canvas and above this there is an area of scaring (approx 20cm) where there appears to have been some previous repair. The canvas is uneven in some places, possibly caused by the re-lining process. Stretcher marks visible in raking light. Inspection under UV reveals light scattered retouching throughout, including to the aforementioned area of repair, however this is largely confined to the background, rather than the floral detail. White flower (lower right): The canvas has been lined. Surface dirt throughout. There is a hole in the canvas (approx 4cm) to the lower left area of the swag. Inspection under UV reveals scattered retouching largely to the background. There is also one area of retouching visible in natural light to the lower left corner.
