The example after this model was cast was found together with a companion inside the courtyard of the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum. It is believed to represent a victorious runner in one of the major Pan-Hellenic games. The original is in the collection of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli.
Condition Report: Pedestal 28 x 36 x 22in. With an overall verdigris patina to surface. Nicely cast and detailed. General marks, scratches, scrapes, rubbing, weathering and wear to surface. Heavy and numerous scrapes and abrasions to surface of torso. Plugged holes visible to tops of feet for securing to plinth. Plugged hole to left hand above thumb.
