Oil on wooden panel, "Bartoloméo SCHIDONE" on the back, collection stamp and word in Italian with date (acquisition?) . It is probably a painting of the Italian school of late 18th or early 19th century in the style of Bartolomeo Schedoni (17th century) It is a magnificent work recently restored and varnished, very well executed and whose shapes and colours bring out all the intensity of the scene. It is in good condition: no restoration or cleaning needed. Pietà is one of three common artistic representations of a painful Virgin Mary, alongside a martyr Christ. Magnificent work with great emotion. Sold with a sumptuous period frame made of carved and varnished oak - high value.
