Description
The unknown artist used a copperplate engraving by Raphael Sadeler I, created in 1605 after the painting by Matthias Grünewald, as a model. A total of thirteen complete or partial copies of the so-called “Small Crucifix” (formerly Residenz, Munich) are known today, all but one of which were created after the reproduction engraving.
