[ translate ]

\Artist: Italienische Schule des XIX. Jahrhunderts, nach Guido Reni
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 65_59_0_cm
Italian School of the 19th century, after Guido Reni (1575 - 1642) Ecce Homo Oil on canvas 65 x 59 cm (50 x 40 cm) The artist, who was highly important for Italian Baroque painting, initiated a turning point in painting of his time. After studying with the master Denys Fiammingo Calvaert (1540 - 1619) from Antwerp, but also influenced by Lodovico Carracci (1555 - 1619) , he went to Rome in 1600 and developed his own style there. But unlike most of his contemporaries, he was not significantly influenced by the chiaroscuro style of Caravaggism, nor by the works of the then famous Annibale Carracci (1560 - 1609) . Instead, he found a more modern, much more open, again brighter colour language and expression, as it subsequently became formative for painting. At best, he left Caravaggio's dark effect for the background against which the figures were now to be brought to effect again in a more differentiated richness of detail of shadows and delicately coloured tones. This new conception of the picture also characterises the present painting "Ecce Homo", which was made exactly according to the model. In the type of the picture, the suffering Jesus, crowned with thorns, is to be made present to the viewer, in a realistic reproduction of a new conception of the physical, without any artificial alienation of light that was still cultivated in Caravaggism. Neither strong colours nor theatrical lighting effects should mask the reality of suffering. Less the physical hurt, but rather the inner mental suffering is expressed. All the more the tear-filled shine of the eyes, which are directed upwards here as in an internal address to God. Note about the condition: The painting is in age-appropriate condition with damage like cracks, colour flaking and craquelure, all pictures are part of the description. Shipping: Will be carefully packaged and shipped insured and protected with DHL. The packaging is carried out to the best of my knowledge and belief.
