Pleasant Sicily map, in the text-less edition of 1652, enriched by various beautiful cartouches. Source, “Accurata Orbis antiqui Delineatio” historical atlas edited by Hornius and inserted by Janssonius as volume VI of his “Atlas Novus. ” This map is a copy of the original published by Ortelius in the “Parergon” of "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum". Janssonius, who was Jodocus Hondius’ son-in-law and Henricus’ brother-in-law, collaborated on the publication of Atlases, after the acquisition of Mercator’s plates by Jodocus and since 1638 he was the one who actually led the publishing business. Perfect copy with wide margins.
