Ivan MESSAC (born in 1948 in Caen)
PARIS-EST
Rare color lithograph
Signed lower right
Numbered 4/30 and inscribed "For JP Bastid, with best regards"
50.5 x 66 cm
Provenance: Jean-Pierre Bastid Collection (1937–2026)
Ivan Messac was the youngest artist of the Narrative Figuration movement. He was nevertheless associated with this movement and participated in numerous art events such as the Paris Biennale and Sigma in Bordeaux. He created numerous set designs and costumes. His works draw inspiration from Pop Art, Italian Futurism, Mayakovsky, as well as Jimi Hendrix and Hollywood icons.
Public commissions have given him the opportunity to expand his artistic output. In the 2000s, Ivan Messac returned to painting, bringing—as in his early works—a critical perspective on his era.
Since 2003, his paintings have been featured in various exhibitions dedicated to narrative figuration (at the museums in Dôle and Orléans), as well as in art galleries.
