Inscribed verso, Capt. Becher on Vivian painted by J A Mitchell. This celebrated steeplechase horse 7 years old by Fencer- dam by Spanker, the property of Captain Lamb. Won Steeplechase Northampton 1834 beating Mr Osbaldston's 'Canon ball' whose owner challanged any horse in England for 500 £. Won the Alesbury Steeplchase, 12st up 4 miles in consequence of this he was matched against the Marquess of Waterford's Cock Robin over Leicestershire for 1000 £ aside won 2 lengths, Captain Becher up. 1835 won the Ladies Cup at Warwick and the same day won a Hurdle race of 2 miles, 12st up. Won match against 'Slade' at Bath, no horse would start against him at Clifton for the Hurdle Race.
