J. Czernecki, "A Cross or a Soviet Star?", 1934
Czernecki, Józef (1894–1949)
The Cross or the Soviet Star? : A Series of Reflections / Józef Czernecki.
Katowice: Catholic Bookstore and Printing House, 1934
[2], 419, [6] pp.; illustrated paperback, 20 cm; good condition, characteristic browning, text block intact, missing back cover; rare!
The title of Father Czernecki’s work says it all. This is not a comparison, because there is nothing to compare. The tragic picture of Soviet Russia
requires no commentary. Ferdynand Ossendowski, an expert on the subject, is the actual author of these chapters. In the remaining chapters, however, the priest presents God and His church to us in a straightforward, human way.
The book was on the strict Communist index—a rarity!
