Inscription: At the lower part signed in the printing plate: "J. M. Quinkhart pinxit. / J. Houbraken scupsit". Lower middle inscribed in the printing plate: "Franciscus Burmannus, Ultraj. / Franc. Fil. & Abr. Heidani Nepos, S. S. Theolog. Doct. & Profess.". Lower right dated: "1736". At the lower part further inscription: "Ecclefiarum Coudumensis, Brilanae, Enchusanae, & Amstelaedamensis Pastor, Academiae Trajectinae Professor, Dum viveret per 24 annos ministerio functus, Obiit anno aetatis octavo & quadragefimo Die 22 Septembris 1719. /Doctrinis aequandus Avo, pietate Parenti, Nec mertis, aeri sed brevitate minor. / P. Burmannus, Frater.".

Description: Portrait of the theologian Frans Burmann. The bust is set in an oval cartouche. Burmann points out of the cartouche as a trompe-l'œil onto a sign attached to the lower edge, in which a short description of his brother is written about the portrait subject.
