This autograph album contains the signatures of American statesmen of the mid-nineteenth century. Autographs include those of 3 presidents and 180 Senators and Congressmen, including three that are pasted in. The autographs include Presidents John Quincy Adams, Millard Fillmore, and James Buchanan. Other noteworthy signatures are those of John C. Calhoun, Thomas Hart Benton, John J. Crittenden, William H. Seward, Daniel Webster, John T. Stuart (Abraham Lincoln's law partner), Henry S. Lane, James J. Roosevelt (great uncle of Theodore Roosevelt), and Henry A. Wise. Only two autographs are dated, both on April 29, 1842.
