JACQUES BELLANGE
1570 - 1616
THE VIRGIN AND CHILD WITH DISTAFF AND AN ANGEL (WALCH 9; GRIFFITHS/HARTLEY 8A)

Etching and engraving, circa 1615, a fine, rich impression of this scarce subject, Walch's second state (of three), before the address of Le Blond, on paper with a partial Large Grapes watermark (cf. G/H. 11), unframed
plate: 257 by 187mm 10⅛ by 7½in
sheet: 273 by 226mm 10¾ by 8⅞in

Condition Report:
With a wide margin at right, small margins elsewhere, in good condition, with a tiny fibrous accretion above the angel's left hand, a few pale water stains (mainly visible in the margins, very faintly discernible at lower left of subject), unframed.

(The left sheet edge slightly frayed presumably due to removal from an album). (A pen and ink number at upper and lower right).
