Condition Report:
UNCONDITIONAL AND WITHOUT PREJUDICE
The following condition report has been prepared by Hamish Dewar Ltd., 13 and 14 Mason's Yard, St James', London, SW1Y 6BU:

Structural Condition
The canvas is unlined and is securely attached to what certainly appears to be the artist's original keyed wooden stretcher with one central horizontal cross member. This is ensuring a stable structural support. A small undulation is situated in the extreme upper right corner of the composition. There is a raised line running horizontally through the centre of the composition. This is appears to pertain to the artist's support.

Paint Surface
The paint surface has an overall accumulation of dust and dirt and appears to have an uneven surface coating.
There are a few minor paint losses including one small paint loss above the signature towards the lower right corner of the composition and one between the two seated figure's above the centre right of the lower edge.
The paint surface displays a few scattered areas of raised craquelure, including an area within the sky in the upper right of the composition, a raised horizontal line within the figures towards the upper centre of the left edge and a raised diagonal line within the sea in the upper right quadrant of the composition.
These all appear stable at present.
Inspection under ultraviolet light shows areas of uneven fluorescence and scattered dark spots which appear to pertain to a discoloured and degraded surface coating. I could find no evidence of any retouching under ultraviolet light.

Summary
The painting would therefore appear to be in essentially good condition and would benefit from cleaning and restoration.

Provenance:
By descent from the artist
