JAGUAR
MKII 3.8

VIN. #221509

- ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SEDANS OF THE 1960s
- FAST AND SATISFYING TO DRIVE
- HIGHLY REFINED INTERIORS
- 3.8-LITER, 220 HP ENGINE
- JUST ONE OWNER FROM NEW, PERFECTLY TRANSPARENT HISTORY

The MK II is one of the key models in the history of Jaguar: it made its appearance in 1959 and became an example to be followed in the sports sedan market, especially when it adopted the most powerful engine available: the 3.8-liter, six-cylinder DOHC, capable of developing an impressive 220 HP. The windows were considerably enlarged compared with those of the first (“3.4 liter”) version, unveiled in 1955, and on account of this feature, together with the elegant chromed frames for the side windows, it can be considered one of the most beautiful four-door vehicles of all time. The Jaguar MK II is characterized by its chrome wire wheels with central wheel nut, and also by the exceptionally refined elegance of its wood and leather-lined interiors. The car offered for sale has lived an easy, trouble-free life, spent entirely with its first owner who received it as a gift when he was just 22 years old. “It was registered to the family business" - he recalls - "I was still at university at the time. For the first few years, the 3.8 did most of its kilometers taking me to and back from university in Rome, because I would come home to Milan each weekend. We had several cars at home, and I liked to vary them, each time choosing which one to use. But the Jaguar was mine, and has always stayed with me. When we sold the company in 2015, I had to get it re-registered in my name”. To date, the car has done just over 110,000 kilometers, 100,000 more than indicated on the odometer. But for a few details, it is still the same as it was when it rolled off the production line in Coventry. “The carburetors, installed in 1964, like the oil recuperator and lightened clutch, were those of the E-Type Jaguar,” - the owner continous recalls - “and they were fitted by the Jaguar workshop in Milan, where I got my maintenance done. Over the years I had it repainted in different colors, but in the end I decided to get it sanded and repainted back to its original color”. The MK II 3.8 has accompanied its owner on many trips, Saint Moritz being a favorite destination. Apart from breaking a headlamp in the city in the mid-1960s, it has never sustained any damage. It therefore still has all its main original components. It has been used very sparingly in recent years, just 200-300 km/year to keep it from “seizing up”. Its only non-original feature is the cognac color of the leather interiors, originally to be red, but the car’s present color scheme is nevertheless correct for the year of production. In short, this Jaguar MK II 3.8 can be considered much more than rare, almost unique.
