The pen and ink retouchings on the present drawing suggest that it is almost certainly Luyken’s preparatory study for his illustration on page 368, volume II, to Caius Suetonius Tranquillus, Caji Suetonii Tranquilli Opera published by François Halma in Utrecht in 1690 (see Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, RP-P-1896-A-19368-846).
