This lively view of the Campo Santa Margherita is a striking example of Jane Peterson's Venetian oeuvre. The campo which has been a popular gathering place for centuries is located in VeniceÕs Dorsoduro sestiere (district) and the campaniles of the Chiesa di San Pantalon and the Basilica dei Frari can be seen on the horizon. Peterson deftly captures the energy of the square with her expressive brushstrokes and she instantly transports the viewer to Venice with her signature bold color-work.
Condition Report: Minor water damage in two 5 in. areas along lower edge each extending 1/4 in. into work; cracking in thick white paint; 1 in. horizontal tear along upper left edge; tack marks at all four corners; 1/2 in. tear along left edge in orange paint.
