Influential map of the eastern coast of North America, from Nova Scotia to Virginia, naming Manbattes (Manhattan) and N. Amsterdam. Published at the height of the Blaeu-Janssonius competition, this map is Janssonius' individual take on the map first published by Johannes de Laet in 1630. The high degree of Dutch influence is denoted by the absence of the advanced cartography of Champlain, although the northern part does include 'Grand Lac,' which is probably Lake Huron.
