JAPANESE "1,000 STITCH" SOLDIER''S BELT
Japanese "1000 stitch" soldier's belt, approx. 60 in. long with Japanese characters (not translated) inked at one end, and 1,000 stitches in slightly faded red thread stitched thereto. These "senninbari" were given as an amulet by women to soldiers on their way to war, and each stitch was normally made by a different woman.
