JAPANESE MEIJI ERA CLOISONNE ENAMEL GOLDSTONE VASE
An antique Japanese Meiji era, 1868 to 1912, enamel over brass vase. The vase has a baluster shaped body and a short flared neck. The ware is enameled with a polychrome image of a Phoenix bird and scrolled foliage motifs made in the Cloisonne technique. The shoulders are adorned with floral, foliage and geometrical ornaments made in the same technique. The neck and the base are decorated with a shippo pattern and fine wire work.
