¶ Rare humorous 19th-cent. woodblock print (depicting a procession of various figures holding a large rosary around a large octopus) by the Japanese artist Kawanabe Kyôsai (1831-1889) forming the central part of a triptych, titled “Dôke hyakumanben” (Comic One Hundred Turns of the Rosary) originally published around 1864 in Kyôsai’s print-series “Kyôsai hyakkyô” (One Hundred Wildnesses by Kyôsai). – With small defects (small portion of lower left corner missing, occ. sl. (finger-)soiled, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless in an acceptable condition (not examined out of frame).
