JAPANESE TYPE 26 SERVICE REVOLVER
SERIAL 48964. BARREL 4.5". CALIBER 9mm. This was the first modern revolver adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army. It was developed at the Koishikawa Arsenal and is named for its year of adoption in the Japanese dating system (the 26th year of the reign of the Meiji emperor, i.e., 1893). The revolver saw action in conflicts including the Russo-Japanese War, World War I and World War II. It features a round barrel, six shot, double action, matte blue finish with checkered walnut grips, metal butt with lanyard. Arsenal stamp and number on left side of frame. Revolver retains about 85% original matte arsenal blue blending with brown patina and thinning on last 2" of barrel from holster. Action and bore are excellent. Comes with original leather holster with some initials stamped on front, top and back. C&R
