JAPANESE WWII KOISHIKAWA TYPE 38 BOLT ACTION

MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 1449884. Non-matching numbers throughout. Bbl. 31 1/8". Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,400 meters. Inverted V front sight. Mum has not been defaced but has a worn, slightly faint appearance. Type 38 characters are legible. The left receiver is marked with Koishikawa interlocking circles. Straight bolt handle with an oval knob. Large tang-checkered safety knob. The cleaning rod and bayonet lug are present. Hardwood stock set. Two-piece buttstock construction. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 15 1/2" fullered blade bayonet marked on the right ricasso with the Nagoya Arsenal marking. Curved quillon. Smooth hardwood grips are retained by two screws. Steel scabbard. The bayonet blade has been lightly sharpened and retains traces of its original blue. The balance of the metal is turning gray with patina. Grips are worn. Full-length crack on top of the right grip. Scabbard has shallow dents with wear and is turning gray with patina. CONDITION: stock set has a dark, stained appearance with an added finish, moderate wear, scratches, and handling marks. There are noticeable missing chips underneath the forend tip. Buttstock joint is slightly opened. Metal has 40% of its blue turning gray with patina and wear, handling marks, and areas of light oxidation. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (24-1018/RW).
