Louis Grenier's color printing process is completely new and used in this work for the first time.
Edition of 2500 numbered copies, this one of the 250 of the leading edition on Imperial Japan including a suite in black of all the illustrations.

Very complete copy of the 12 volumes in small folio format, paperback, illuminated and filled covers. Complete with cases and suites.
Very good state.
Solid and clean volumes. Back of the covers a little faded.
Internally in perfect fresh condition, careful printing, very beautiful prints of the plates and ornaments.
The solid cases show traces, friction & small cracks at the edges, without seriousness.

Here the famous text is in its best and most complete version, that given by Doctor Joseph-Charles Mardrus. Renowned for being the closest to Arabic texts, it is characterized by a flowery style, a taste for orientalism and overflowing eroticism. T. E.
