This is a truly unique watch from the 1930s produced for the renowned house of Caldwell, one of Americas oldest jewelry companies. The case is done in solid gold with a Japanese mountain theme. The workmanship is excellent and so is the overall condition. Mimo was founded by Otto Graef around 1889, MIMO is an acronym for Manufacture Internationale de Montres en Or. In 1928 Otto Graef bought the Girard Perregaux Watch Company which is now renowned worldwide. In the 1930s and 40s Mimo was marketed in Europe and Perregaux was marketed in America. Eventually though the company decided to develop the Perregaux brand universally. Mimo was eventually phased out but today remains legendary for its innovations and historical significance.
