Condition Report:
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.

This work is in very good condition. The canvas seems to have an old lining, and the stretcher seems to be original. Although there are some cracks in the center of the sky, the paint layer is stable.
There are four small areas of retouching in the center of the sky. There are a few other tiny dots above the peak in the upper right. There is a diagonal restoration about 1 inch long in the clouds in the lower left sky. There is a small thin circular restoration in the central mountain peak, and another very thin scratch in the peak on the right side. There are three small spots of retouching in the water beneath the city in the center. In the vines on the left side, there is a very thin arc shaped line that shows under ultraviolet light, but this does not correspond to retouching.

"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
