JEAN BESNARD FOR ÉMILE-JACQUES RUHLMANN
TABLE LAMP

circa 1930
glazed ceramic, fabric shade
incised R and numbered 3434
22½ in. (57.1 cm) high
14 in. (35.5 cm ) diameter shade

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. Glazed ceramic surface presents with a fine craquelure glaze. Ceramic surfaces with very minor flakes to glaze, and some very faint areas of discoloration, consistent with age and gentle use. Some popped air bubbles and imperfections to glaze ,inherent to the production process and not at all visually distracting. One very small chip to ceramic near the lip of base, only visible upon close inspection. Lamp shade presents well in person, and fridge detailing presents with more chocolate colored tone than in the catalog illustration. Fitted with an American two-prong socket. Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician. Lamp has been viewed under blacklight and the surface displays some scattered areas of fluorescence, not visible under natural light.
