Jean Marc Calvet is a French artist who lives in Granada, Nicaragua. Calvet was one of the six winners of the VII Bienal de Artes de Nicaragua in 2009 selected to represent Nicaragua at the Bienal de Centroamérica in Panama in 2010.Marc Calvet has described his work in this way: "I paint out of necessity, without thinking, some form of liberated automatism. I allow my unconscious mind to guide my hand. I cultivate my obsessions by making use of my demons and my ghosts to draw creative energy from them. An artist is first and foremost an antenna, an emotional receiver that opens a passage to different worlds. Each character in my paintings is full of stories and creatures, giving life to a constant movement of death, love, sex, life to put it simply. We are all made of details. Our life is built by them and in their absence we would not exist. We would become transparent. On the surface, we are just words, expressions, inside we are colours".
