Additional Information: This engraving is hand signed in pencil by the artist "Laboureur" in the lower left margin.
It is also hand numbered in pencil from the eight proofs of the first state, in the lower right margin.
The work is also signed in the image with the artist’s initial “L” in the lower right.
This is the first state of two, before the addition of the title in the lower image. The second state was published in an edition of 35 signed and numbered impressions.
The MBM Handmade watermark is visible in the lower margin

Laboreur learned engraving with Auguste Lepère and lithography with Toulouse-Lautrec (1895-1898). Although his works remained figurative, he discovered cubism and often used geometrization and simplification of forms. In 1923, Jean-Émile Laboureur founded the Association of painters and engravers who promoted etching, lithography, engraving or xylography.
