J.M. Jansen (1811-1857) - Een bebost landschap met boeren en hond bij boerderij

A wooded landscape with farmers and a dog near a farm. The size of the canvas is 38x49 cm. A wax seal has been applied to the stretcher frame.

Both the painting and the classic frame (Paul Gehring brand) are in excellent condition.

The Dutch painter Johannes Mauritz Jansen was born in Angerlo (Province of Gelderland) on July 25, 1811 and died at a young age in Utrecht on March 25, 1857. He lived and worked in the village of Bingerden 1835-1836, Hilversum 1836, Bingerden until 1838, Utrecht 1839, Amsterdam until 1841 and from 1842 in Utrecht. Johannes was probably a student of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam. He painted romantic woodland landscapes in the style of Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803-1862) , but also made seascapes. Johannes had exhibitions in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam (1835-1846: forest views and tree-lined landscapes) . Sources: Kramm; Shin; Thieme-Becker; Wurzbach and RKD.
