Baltimore's Hals Brewing (produced by Globe Brewing) chose Franz Hals by name and used his work "The Laughing Cavalier" for its cans and bottles for a short time in the mid-1950s (now scarce collectibles). Damron graphically rendered the Dutch masterpiece for this campaign commissioned by the advertising agency Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn (BBDO).
