British
1850 - 1934
ALL HALLOWE'EN

signed John Collier and dated 95 (lower left)
oil on canvas
34¼ by 50½ in.
87 by 128.3 cm

Condition Report:
Not examined out of the frame. Original unlined condition. The surface presents well and appears clean. There are a very few isolated, tiny pin dot losses near the edges and in the upper half of the composition. Minor frame abrasion along left and right edges. Under UV: heavy varnish fluoresces green unevenly. There is a 5 inch circular area of brushy inpainting on the front of the dresser at lower center and a 2 inch repair just above the mirror at upper center (somewhat visible to the naked eye). There are scattered fine pin dots and dashes of retouching on the figure and her reflection and in areas of the background. Broad fluorescence visible along the bottom of composition (possibly inherent).

In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
