JOHN FITZGERALD "JACK" KENNEDY a.k.a. "JFK" (May 29, 1917 " November 22, 1963). 35th President of the United States, served as both a U.S. House Representative (1947-1953) and Senator (1953-1960) from Massachusetts, elected President of the United States from 1961 until his Death by Assassination in Dallas, Texas in November of 1963.
1961-Dated Edition of Kennedy's 1940 Book titled: "Why England Slept", Inscribed and Signed, "For Frank King - Best Wishes - John Kennedy" being boldly Inscribed in huge size in black marker on the front flyleaf of Kennedy's, "Why England Slept," published New York, by Wilfred Funk, Inc., Choice Extremely Fine.
This 252 page Hardbound book measures 8.5" x 6" and Includes the Publisher's Original Dust Jacket (with clear protector added later). Cloth jacket, slight wear to corners and spine tips. The real "value" lies in the wonderful vivid Inscription, the Signature, and the Recipient. Frank King, the recipient was the father of Ann King, a Governess to the older children of Robert Kennedy from 1961 to 1963. John Kennedy signs in black marker, his inscription and signature are large sharp and bold, being written across most of the page. John F. Kennedy wrote this historical book in 1940 as an answer to Winston Churchill's "While England Slept."
This 1961 edition was published just two years prior to President Kennedy's assassination, is primarily valuable due to its inscription and signature. Kennedy's fame and popularity, including as a published author, helped to propel him to win the Presidency.
The 1940 1st American edition of JFK's first published book, was his senior thesis at Harvard, analyzing England's decision to resist Hitler. We have located several signed copies of that 1st Edition, currently priced online between $50,000 to $25,000 by retail dealers.
