Overall framed size measures 22" x 31". Excellent condition. Mather was Scottish and migrated to Australia in 1878. He was a painter in oils and watercolors, as well as a prolific etcher. Leader of many artist societies in Australia, he was also associated with the plein-air artist camps that grew around Sydney in the late 19th century. Three of his works are owned by the National Gallery of Victoria.
