JOHN RAWLINGS PHOTOGRAPH OF TRUMAN CAPOTE WITH THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE (1 OF 2)
A photograph by John Rawlings for Conde Nast, Truman Capote sitting up on the back of an open Jaguar E-Type with his arm along the windscreen surround, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline behind him. The reverse carries two stamps: the boxed copyright stamp of The Conde Nast Publications Inc., marked not to be reproduced without written permission, and the studio stamp of John Rawlings, Inc., 417 East 54th Street, New York 22, N.Y. The New York 22 postal zone was in use before zip codes replaced it in 1963, and the Jaguar E-Type was introduced in 1961, which places the photograph between those two dates.
