AN UNUSUAL LATE 18TH CENTURY EIGHT DAY ROLLING MOON MAHOGANY BRACKET CLOCK WITH TWENTY-FOUR HOUR NIGHT AND DAY DIAL the 9" painted dial with floral spandrels enclosing a 24-hour chapter ring and a recessed centre having a landscape painted background with a Palladian-style building in a rural setting. The revolving day and night dial having a moving sun during daylight which disappears at night time and rising the next day. The arch with revolving moon dial having 3D globes and strike/silent function to the left-hand side, the dial centre signed and numbered John Thwaites, Clerkenwell, Londres, 2445. fronting an eight-day fusee movement with five knopped pillars, anchor escapement and geared remote winding, striking the hours on a bell and pull repeat. The backplate with engraved border and signed John Thwaites, Londres and numbered to the top edge of the front plate 2445. The impressive case with concave-sided cresting having brass flame finials, caryatid corners, sunburst sound frets, leaf cast bracket feet and side carrying handles 63.5cm to the top of the finial.
