LOT 199

JOHN WALKER | UNTITLED (ALBA)

[ translate ]

Property from the Collection of the Late Pat and Penny Allen

JOHN WALKER
b.1939
UNTITLED (ALBA)

signed and dated 1987 on the reverse
oil on canvas
49 by 36cm.; 19¼ by 14in.

Condition Report:
The canvas appears to be original. There is some slight craquelure in the lower central passage and in one or two other places in the light brown pigment elsewhere, predominantly through the central vertical section. This is largely only visible upon close inspection. There are possibly one or two lost impasto tips, however this is only visible upon extremely close inspection. There is some surface dirt and studio matter throughout. The varnish has also been inconsistently applied. This excepting, the work appears to be in good overall condition.

Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a thick layer of varnish which makes further inspection difficult.

The work is floated in a stained wooden box frame.
