Description: 12mo: [4]-377-[3] pp. (some margin. waterstains). - First Amsterdam edition, issued the same year as the first Parisian ed. Very early and detailed account by Abbé de Choisy (1644-1711). He formed part of the official embassy from Louis XIV to the Siamese court that hoped, in vain, to convert the Siamese king to Christianity. Two other members of this mission, Alexandre de Chaumont and Guy Tachard, also wrote accounts of the journey made 1685-1686. - Ref.
