Round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.20 carats total, and round rubies. Yellow gold. Ring size 8 3/4.
Stamp: JP BELLIN 080.
Gross weight: 8.80 dwt.
The Connoisseur's Jewel Box: Property from a Distinguished San Francisco Collector

Provenance

After learning many of their craftsmanship skills from their grandfather, who worked at Cartier in the late 1800s, brothers Jean and Pierre Bellin founded their own jewelry house, acquiring their official jeweler's hallmark in 1967. Their designs mix geometric Art Deco styles with bold Baroque shapes, and the firm is particularly known for its animal and floral designs. In addition to producing their own designs, Jean and Pierre's workshop also crafted pieces for many important jewelry houses, including Mauboussin, Chaumet, and FRED. Notably, the firm also exported many of its pieces to foreign markets, particularly in Asia and the Middle East. Facing fierce competition in these markets, the company eventually closed in the 1990s; however, its exquisite pieces remain highly collectible.
