Inscription: Inscribed and signed below the image in the printing plate and dated on the first sheet

Date: 1756

Description: Four copperplate engravings with scenes of putti practising the arts: one trying to bake children on a round clay oven, the next lounging on books while trascending a book, a third using palette and easel as a hobbyhorse, and one drawing while the other has to serve as a pad. Johann Heinrich Rode created these four humorous scenes from drawings by his brother Bernhard in his thirtieth year, three years before his early death.

Condition: Rather good condition. Somewhat browned and stained, some, partly coloured stains at margins, partly soiled, paper partly broken at platemark due to printing. Irregularly trimmed. At the back side partly remains of old mounting.
