JUDAICA: A FINE GERMAN SILVER DOUBLE BEAKER FOR
CIRCUMCISION
Set of flared, barrel-shaped beakers, on slightly raised round base, with identical decoration, gilt interiors. Both beakers inscribed in Hebrew on body, the one: "kos shel Metsitsah" cup of Metsitsah, which is part of circumcision ceremony, the other: "kos shel berakhah" cup of blessing, both bases are inscribed in Hebrew as well, the one with the name of the owner: Moshe, son of Eleazar, of blessed memory, the other: in the year in which the announcer/forerunner of good [message] [hopefully] will come/arrive. This last Hebrew sentence form the equivalent of the Jewish year 5583 = 1822/23, Hamburg, 1817-27"

Condition Report: Very good overall condition, engraving clear, light bruising to body of one cup. Marks are clear. Ebel mark has lighter strike to one corner. Has been lacquered.
