1945 was a pivitol year for Judith Rothschild. After graduating from Wellesley College in June of 1943, she continued her art studies with Reginald Marsh at The Art Students League and honed her concepts in abstraction in Hans Hofmann's New York art classes. In 1945 Rothschild joined Jane Street Gallery and was given a one-woman exhibition which opened in December of that year and featured her recent oils and gouaches. She would join and begin exhibiting with the American Abstract Artists group in 1946.
