French
1811 - 1889
INTÉRIOR DE FERME DANS LE BERRY

signed Jules Dupré and dated 1833 (lower right)
oil on canvas
18¾ by 24⅞ in.
47.6 by 63.2 cm

Condition Report:
The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:

Not examined out of the frame. This work has been restored and could be hung in its current condition. The canvas has an old lining. The surface is stable. Although remnants of old varnish are still visible under ultraviolet light, they do not affect the appearance of the work, and the painting is otherwise clean and attractively varnished. Some retouches have been added to address some pentimenti on the right side, in the upper right, and above the hanging laundry on the left side. Some cracking has been retouched in the darker part of the interior beneath the laundry. No retouches are apparent in the figure or objects.

"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
