Jacob (Jaap) de Ruig (Baarn, May 10, 1909 - there, August 4, 1992) was a Dutch painter. He was often called the 'Eem painter'.

Jacob was married to Maria Christina (Tina) Zobel. He was taught by Van Neijenhuis, Gérard van Wijland and J. M. J. Bollinger. Jaap lived in Baarn all his life and painted places there such as the Eem, Brink/markt, Laanstraat, Pekingtuin and Groeneveld. He also portrayed hundreds of Baar residents, including the Pierson and Wijsmuller families.

De Ruig took painting lessons with Van Neijenhuis, Gérard van Wijland and J. M. J. Bolinger. Jaap de Ruig painted (river) landscapes, portraits and (flower) still lifes. He also worked as a sculptor. His style of painting is intuitive, impressionistic, but also realistic.
