Stool in inflated metal. The A STOOL is a study in the process of hydroforming. Two sheets of metal are welded together and then inflated with the use of pressurised air or water. The design is the result of a series of inflated tests with the aim to keep the process and aesthetic as organic as possible. It so accentuates round curves in those areas of highest volumetric expansion. I used a simple right angle shape, an ‘a’ shaped leg and a hole handle, which adds to the playfulness of this design. The beauty of this process rests on the fact that you have absolutely no control upon the outcome of any desired shape, making every piece of design unique and different to each other. Powder coated in Ultramarine Blue.
