First issue of the first work; variant of the second work.

The first two published works by the popular Dutch poet, writer, and emblematist Jacob Cats (1577-1660). Silenus Alcidiadis was Cats' most popular work, and Maechden-Plicht is an interesting advice book for young women that was widely translated and reprinted. The two works are often found bound together. Of both works only four examples have appeared in American Book Prices Current since 1941.
