The present work is registered with the RKD in The Hague under the no. 41075 as a studio copy after a painting by Peter Paul Rubens now kept in the Prado in Madrid (inv. no. 1653). The attribution of this painting to Jacob Jordaens was first suggested by Roger-A. D'Hulst.
