The drawing shows a view of the Sorgue with a steeply rising rock face and castle ruins as well as a village with a bridge and a medieval church on the left.
It was painted in 1768 when Jakob Philipp Hackert was travelling from France to Italy accompanied by his younger brother Johann Gottlieb.
